FAQ

What files can be archived?

You can archive files with any extension. At present time the size of archived file is unlimited, but the archive is an executable file, and in the majority most operation systems, popular nowadays, allow to use only files less than 4 gigabytes.
That’s why we don’t have possibility to pack big sized files, but in future we’ll add possibility to break large archives into smaller parts.

How can archive cost be set?

Archive cost is set by three parameters:

1) Text message cost.
You can choose cost of text message from the variants offered by our scale of charges. It covers practically all available variants of cost. Certainly, real final cost will differ, depending on the specific country and operator.

2) Messages quantity.
There is a choice from 1 to 3 texts. The same final cost of archive can be achieved both with one expensive sms and several cheap. "Breakdown" of archive price has its own advantages and disadvantages. Advantage is that the cost of one text message is low; accordingly it allows increasing sms-traffic with users which balance is insufficient for sending more expensive message. Disadvantage – when using multiple texts there is a chance to "sell" archive at the price of only one sms. It occurs, if the user sent the first message, but didn’t send the subsequent within 20 minutes. In this case, the archive code is sent automatically. This arrangement considerably reduces quantity of possible complaints from subscribers in case they actually receive nothing after sending unique sms. If it does not suit you - do not set quantity sms more than one.

3) Cost for alternative kinds of payment.
In our system not only sms-payment is accepted. If Internet access is available, the user can buy archive with a paid call, or with one of multitude electronic currencies (Webmoney, PayPal), or even with a credit card. For all these methods of payment you can set the price different from the text message cost. What for can it be necessary? The matter is that percent of deduction on electronic payments is considerably higher than percent of deductions for sms. On the average for text message you receive about 30-40 % of means that are spent by the subscriber, and for electronic payments - about 60-70 % (all figures are already resulted minus our percent). Therefore you can involve the user for payment in electronic currencies, by putting the price for them little less (20-30 %) than sms price. On the other hand, the maximum archive cost with sms payment makes 30$ (3 * 10$), and cost for electronic currencies is in the range from 16 cent to 100$. By default, cost for payment by electronic currencies is equal to total texts cost. I.e. in case of the setting sms cost for 8,3$ with the quantity of 2, cost for electronic payments will make 16,6$.

What are "inaccessibility of sms sufficient cost" paragraphs?

We give wide countries coverage, but not in every country there is a possibility to accept texts of certain cost. In some countries there are only expensive messages, in others are only cheap. Deductions from sms are strongly separated too, depending on the country and the operator. We suggest you to decide in this case, whether allow sms payment or not. It is possible to set two parameters - model of archive behavior, and the minimum admissible income.

The behavior model defines how the archive will act in case of absence in the country sms with enough cost (corresponding to the chosen tariff, or more expensive). You can completely forbid sms-payment in these countries; resolve unpacking without dependence from message cost, or force archive to gain necessary cost increasing sms quantity to 2 or 3 pieces.

When choosing the restrict payment variant, there will be considered only texts with the chosen cost or higher. In case of the high initial price for sms (6,7$ upwards), the choice of this point essentially shorten the list of the countries in which it will be possible to pay for archive. For example, sms that costs 10$ exists only in 3-4 countries.

The minimum admissible income is a parameter which helps to eliminate the countries with very low sms deductions.
Setting of this parameter forbids payment by text message if the average sum of deductions on this country is lower than predefined percent of the chosen tariff. Keep in mind that average deduction of all numbers lays within 10-35 %. It happens to 50 %, but it is faster an exception, than a rule. Therefore usually there is no sense to set the minimum percent above 40.

I will explain on numbers. For example, you choose the 6,7$ tariff, and the minimum percent of deductions is 30 %. 6,7 * 0.3 = 2,01$. Thereby you forbid sms payment from the countries, in which average sum of deductions lower than 2$.

The percent of deductions is unknown when the archive opens, that’s why calculations use not your final income, but the full sum that charges from billing - i.e. the sum before our percent deduction. In fact you will receive your percent (from 80 to 90 %) from this amount.

Let's sum up.
1) If you wish to receive a maximum from archive - leave default options (to resolve cheap sms sending, minimum of deduction is 0 %). It is also possible to choose behavior model "Try to gather additionally cost by quantity".

2) If you wish to receive for each archive not less than any certain border, put "to resolve cheap sms" and set the minimum percent in agreement with your preferences on the minimum desirable amount.

3) If you want to make user pay for archive not less, than you set in tariffs - then put a restriction on cheap messages.

P.S. Also pay attention to a word "Average". The matter is that the archive doesn’t have a possibility to learn the real amount of deductions of the country, therefore calculation undertakes approximate figures. It means, that we cannot guarantee completely, that at the above-stated choice of 6,7$ / 30 % the sum of deductions will appear more than 2$. It can be both little less, and little more. But this will be a small difference.

How can I increase an envelope?

It is necessary to apply different options of sms cost and quantity for different traffic and different files. Also you should choose different models of behavior with cheap texts. The most suitable configuration can be found out only in experimental way. Unequivocally it is necessary to use pseudo-subscriptions (it is the scheme when the user doesn’t send first text, but answers the incoming message). It is necessary to consider, that on existing billings restrictions a ceiling price on pseudo-subscriptions is 2õ10$ or 3õ5$ (In other cases, there will be a standard sms payment). Also we constantly work over creation additional skins (covers) for archives. Additional skins are differing from standard not only in appearance, but also in the work scheme. For example, the skin "Software Installation" more approaches for software distribution since it is made like popular installer programs and causes more trust from users. Pay attention, when choosing “Software Installation” skin the field "description"; define text from the first installer page. If you leave its empty, shown description will be standard machine translation, familiar to the majority users at a choice of English language. Also, there is an adjustable skin, allowing completely change design under your taste.

What is "outgoing message"?

Column with outgoing messages in statistics signifies expenses for sending texts to subscribers (messages are sent by timeout and messages are sent as inquiry for a pseudo-subscription).
